The ritual begins with the sky. Head to Kiss Bridge, in Sunset Town at the south of the island, 25 minutes from the hotel. Yes, it's very touristy, we won't lie to you, but the view of the sun sinking into the sea there is simply magnificent. We slip away late in the day, hand in hand, to watch the sun disappear on the horizon.
The real luxury for us is not having to go far at all. The west coast catches fire every evening, and from the hotel, facing the sunset, the show is right there, free and renewed each night. Some evenings, we simply stay put, a drink in hand. The sun's timing shifts with the seasons: take a look the day before so you don't miss a thing.
Dinner with your feet in the water
For a dinner that stays with you, we'll take you (in spirit, since we save the address for your arrival) to our favorite spot in the center-east of the island. The idea: you pick your own seafood, then settle onto a floating terrace, literally over the water. Together, after dark, it's the kind of moment you don't forget.
Phú Quốc is the kingdom of grilled seafood. For a change, we also love the Dương Đông night market, around the Dinh Cậu rock, a quarter of an hour from the hotel: seafood on the grill, street food and atmosphere. Everything is paid in dong, and prices shift often, so check the day before and bring enough to pay on the spot.

Hidden coves and moments for two
To truly get away, there's this hidden cove you reach by crossing the forest. Careful, the track is only for experienced scooter riders. At the end: shells to gather, a magnificent waterfall where you can swim after a short walk, and the feeling of having the place all to yourselves. Local families picnic there; it's intimate and real.
Out at sea, we set up a small-group snorkeling trip. We work with a trusted, English-speaking partner whose boats never carry more than eight people. Far from the boats packed with twenty or thirty tourists, we put on the mask together, in peace. Feel like laying a towel in the sun? Mango Bay is just as good for a swim as for a shared drink.
